2014: The Year of the Besties!

Having a best friend is such a special gift!  But having a best friend to travel and create with is the most wonderful gift of all!  
 
Look for besties Kristen Robinson and Ruth Rae August 8-10!

My bestie, Rita Rodriguez, is coming sometime in July with our sweet friend, Lexi Grenzer!

Magdelena Muldoon is planning awesome classes for later in the year!  Maybe she'll bring her best friend!

Sunday, March 2, 10 – 3, Wing-ed Thing-eds with Kari and Jen, $130

(Please note: this is Sunday's class!  Friday and Saturday classes are listed below.) 

                  A Mixed Media Metal Melange!
 Kari and Jen will work together in madness and mayhem to help you unleash your own wild winged thing! 

We will delve into metal shaping, molding, painting, patina-ing and glazing. 


Be they bats or butterflies, birds, angels or fairies this continentally mixed team of instructors will guide you through this magical mystery tour to create your hearts fancy. 
 Tons of tips, and a gazillion giggles promise to be a lively finish to a fun and art filled weekend!


Supply List:
An apron, baby wipes, a few small paint brushes. Tin snips (will have some for sale), scissors, and any junk or broken jewelry you may have.

  
Explore the materials, colors, graphics, versatility and drama of Mixed Media; learn Kari and Jen’s favorite techniques for creating rich, lavish, patterned canvases, metal jewelry and books, plus molding, sculpting richly patina-ed clay and metal techniques and for expressive and unique pieces of art.

Friday, February 28, 9-4, Monet's Garden
with Kari - $60, (plus $15 kit fee)
UGH!  We are all so sick and tired of winter!  Let’s thing spring, and encourage it to come sooner!! 
Monet’s Garden in full bloom inspired this exuberant, joy filled journal.  Van Gogh inspired the energetic painting style.  The explosions of color are only limited by your imagination! 
Using a pinch of magic, and a few tips and techniques from Kari, and ANYONE can paint these flowers.  NO SKETCHING EXPERIENCE REQUIRED to create your own playful paper garden. 
Vincent might still have his ear if he had had these materials and learned these relaxing techniques! 

Supply List: 
Apron, water container, pencil and eraser, a few paint brushes various sizes, scissors, acrylic paints, small bottle of matte medium (liquidy), baby wipes, hair dryer if possible.

Optional: photocopies of your own images or sketches if desired-various sizes.


Kit Fee: $15 please pay at time of class
Kits include images, watercolor paper, deli paper,  freezer paper,  binding supplies, White Signo Uniball gel pen, garden quotes, scrapers, use of specialty tools and expendable products like PPA, misc goodies.

So charming!  

Discover how to make this vintage looking metal etched Cook Book. This will be a future family heirloom for sure.

Metal etching, patinas and cold connections techniques and how to work with hinges will be taught!  Learn how to bind this special  book all together for a unique piece.
